On Wednesday afternoon, Lyle and I flew back to Ponoka. This
was a planned trip home in the middle of the White Cane Walks. While we were in
Ponoka, and in addition to taking care of the usual “at home” jobs, I decided
to invite several friends and neighbours to a small coffee party. I wanted to
give them an informal update of the progress of the White Cane Connections
project.
It was a wonderful morning. As
I recounted some of Lyle’s and my experiences I felt reaffirmed in the value of
what we are doing and I am eager to see this project through to its completion.
I am very grateful to the people in my life who support me
and the choices I make. Many times, my pathway is made easier because of your
kindness and encouragement. I only hope that I can offer to others what has
frequently been given to me.
In the picture below, you can see me standing in front of
some of the group who were gathered for coffee and conversation.
Sue my heart is full to overflowing with pride for all you are doing. What a wonderful project you and Lyle have taken on. The summer olympics in London were exciting to follow. It is no exaggeration to say, your walk has me just as fired up as the olympics did. You are a courageous and generous woman. God continue to bless you with all you need at every step. Love, Alva.
