November 1 - Dressing Up

Lots of people like dressing up for Halloween. I like it when the kids come to our door in all their fancy dress up costumes. I like to give the neighbour children an extra treat but unfortunately, I don’t recognize even the children that I should know. It is hard enough for me to tell which child is at our door even when they come in regular clothes. I can’t see faces and children don’t always know to identify themselves to me. This year I am trying to get an edge ahead of the game. I have suggested to several parents that they might remind their children to say who they are when they come to our door.

There are two pictures with this post. They are of my favourite little three-year olds.

The first picture shows a little boy sitting in his car seat. He is dressed as a Minion, wearing swim goggles, a yellow cap and bib overalls. I’m glad that I’m a grandmother because until last weekend I had never heard of the Minions. Now, having heard of the movie and heard the strange singing of these little creatures, I am better able to appreciate my grandson’s Minion costume. He sure does look cute.

The second picture is of a little girl in a fire truck. This is no ordinary fire truck. It is a cardboard box transformed by her very creative daddy. The box is painted red, has black wheels attached on the sides, a personalized license plate painted on, a first aid kit with band-aids and a little toy flashlight to act as the lights. The box slips over the girl’s shoulders and is held up by a pair of suspenders. These were the only bought item except for the red plastic helmet on the little girl’s head. I think that her costume must be unique and she sure does look cute.

Can you tell from these descriptions that I am a very proud grandma?

Happy Halloween to all the trick and treaters.
