Welcome to White Cane Connections.

My name is Sue Boman. Yes, that’s me in the picture posted here. I have called this blog White Cane Connections because I am one of the many people who use a white cane. I began this blog because I wanted to write about a project I undertook in 2012. The plan was to complete a series of walks using my white cane. Between March and September, I walked in 82 different locations across Canada. So, the blog begins by telling of my experiences and the many people I met along the way.

While this particular journey has now been completed, I find that I still have much to write about. I am continuing to make new white cane connections, and so for the time being I will continue to add regular posts to this blog. I am hoping that you will be a partner in the journey.

August 8 - World Ultimate 2014

This is just a short addition to the comments about the 2014 World Ultimate tournament.  Although the opening and closing ceremonies were held here in Leecco, the rest of the competition was held closer to Molteno, five short train stops south of here.  The 32 playing fields were spread over a huge polo park.  We have heard so many languages from so many different countries it has been hard to keep track.  I know that our two Winnipeg teams have competed with teams from England, New Zealand, Finland, Germany, Japan, Holland, USA and Italy.

You can read more about this amazing tournament at the following site:  www.WFDF.org

The initials stand for World Flying Disc Federation.

  1. I laughed over the Mac Donalds. You certainly are seeing a lot of sights and walking, walking. Glad you could see the Leaning Tower.
